About Amanda Jack MNZAC, BA/LLB
She works at the Natural Health Centre in Courtenay Place, Central Wellington on Tuesdays and Fridays each week, and practices in Brooklyn during the remainder of the week. Amanda studied law and Chinese studies at Auckland University, and upon graduation practiced refugee law. She has been consistently interested in cultures and cultural difference, and has travelled widely. She lived for several years in the Pacific Islands, which led her to the study of Te Reo Maori and kapa haka back in Aotearoa New Zealand. She also lived in China, Japan and the USA, and speaks Mandarin and Japanese. Amanda has worked extensively in amateur drama, both as an actress and as a director. She is also drawn to visual art, and for two years was director of Three Columns Gallery at Harvard University, where she was also employed in a live-in pastoral role tutoring undergraduate students. She has been part of a committed relationship for over fifteen years, and a full-time mother of two girls for thirteen years. She has practiced Zen and Vipassana meditation, and is a keen student of yoga. |
